Nope the quote has nothing to do with reading but I like it and it’s my blog so I’m going to use it….. Now that we got that out of the way….
This week I was all over the place with my internet reading. I’m going through some “I need something different” type of syndrome lately so there are a few odd reads on the list and I hope you find them as enjoyable as I did.
The end of January is when we find out about promotions, so needless to say promotions and getting noticed at work were on my mind. I found this article from TheMuse to be right on point.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am a paralegal. I have been in-house for the past … wow…. seven years. I try to read as much as possible about the legal profession. One of my favorite blogs is Above The Law. This article about lay-offs at law firms is a great reminder that the economy is still not well…. or perhaps this is the sign of things to come.
Continuing on the professional path, late last year I received my approval to work from home full time. It has it’s pluses and minuses, just like everything else. Remind me to one day write about that. Here is a list of companies who are known and making great strides about their work from home policies. Honestly, I’m not sure why more companies don’t do that.
If you work in corporate America, I can bet that you spend most of your day either in meetings or trying to not go to meetings. Some meetings are necessary but some meetings are a total waste of time and could be handled with a phone call or two. This article from Ivanka Trump’s blog is a great map for helping you hold efficient meetings and stop wasting your time.
Do you find your mood changing on Sunday nights at the thought of having to get things ready for Monday? I do. Sometimes I can’t even enjoy Sunday night because I’m so annoyed that it’s coming to an end. I really enjoyed this article about beating the Sunday Night Blues
Getting away from work, Town & Country has some really fun articles sometimes. How many of you remember Gossip Girl? I was obsessed. Yes, I’m old but I so wanted to be Claire Waldorf and I totally lived vicariously through her. This article lists what Claire and Chuck would do on a Sunday…. Some ideas for the husband and I on a nice Sunday this Spring perhaps!
Are you out of ideas on what to tweet? Sometimes I am. Sometimes I find that I don’t tweet as much because I don’t want to be a pain. Not suggesting that you tweet these things but I thought these ideas were really funny.
Do you sometimes wonder why you say certain things? There are phrases that in today’s world have no real meaning so why do we say them? Especially when they seem to have become obsolete.
A friend of mine posted this one on her Facebook page and I thought it was awesome and worth the share. Sometimes we apologize for things that we have no business apologizing for. Here are 15 of those things you NEED to stop apologizing for.
Fashion Week is starting next week… Is it really next week? Yep!!! next week. For those of you who are into fashion (yeah, I’m vain that way) here is the schedule. I’m hoping I can post my reviews of the shows. There is also a schedule on the side bar of the blog of the shows and the times. Which ones are you looking forward to seeing?
Did you always want to work in Fashion? Ohhh gosh, I did. The only thing that stopped was the fact that I can’t draw to save my life and I can’t sew…. that would have been a problem. I didn’t know about being an assistant or an editor…. I don’t know, I must have lived under a rock and as a daughter of immigrants I had to be a lawyer, a doctor or …. yeah I became neither and still not in fashion….. saving that for my next life. Fashionista (amazing blog see here) has a great post on their blog about how much different positions in fashion pay.
Stylish gym clothes…. Ohhh brother another reason to not get dressed in the moring. This article on the New York Times made me laugh…… As if most of the world needed any more excuses to look like they just rolled out of bed.
